Designed for younger students, this programme brings history to life through hands-on experiences, cultural exchange and unforgettable moments in one of China’s great ancient capitals.

Day 1 – Arrival & Welcome to Ancient China

  • Arrival in Xi’an and airport transfer to hotel

  • Welcome briefing: “Xi’an – China’s ancient capital”

  • Ice-breaker activities and orientation

  • Evening meal and early night to recover from travel

Day 2 – School Life & Making Friends

  • Morning at host school

  • Joint lessons with Chinese students:

    What school life is like in China

    Introduction to Xi’an’s history

  • Games and creative activities with host students

  • Evening at the Hotel

Day 3 – Terracotta Army: China’s Greatest Discovery

  • Visit to the Terracotta Army

  • Interactive learning:

    Why was it built?

    What does it tell us about emperors and power?

  • Sketching, photography and quiz-style challenges

  • Evening at the Hotel

Day 4 – City Walls, Defence & Fun

  • Walk along the Xi’an City Wall

  • Learn how ancient cities were protected

  • Supervised cycling on the City Wall

  • Evening dumpling-making workshop

 

Day 5 – School Exchange & Creative Projects

  • Second day at host school

  • Joint group project:

    “Design your own ancient city”

    Compare Xi’an with UK cities

  • Student presentations (short, fun format)

  • Evening at the Hotel

Day 6 – Religion, Trade & Street Life

  • Visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda

    Buddhism, belief and storytelling

  • Explore the Muslim Quarter

    Food, markets, everyday architecture

  • Cultural scavenger hunt / street-food tasting

  • Evening food exploration & night market visit

Day 7 – Culture, Performance & Celebration

  • Visit to local museum or cultural centre

  • Tang Dynasty music & dance performance

  • Farewell group dinner with shared highlights and photos

Day 8 – Departure

  • Final reflections and certificates

  • Transfer to airport

  • Return to the UK
