Academic Consultancy & Mentoring
Dan Dan Wang
Founder & Director | Academic Consultant
Dan Dan has been supporting students and families through the British education system since 2010, providing highly personalised academic guidance from the early secondary years and GCSEs through to A Levels and university applications.
Her approach is deliberately long term. Rather than focusing solely on a particular examination or university application, Dan Dan works with students over a number of years, getting to know their individual strengths, interests and ambitions and helping them make informed decisions at each important stage of their education.
Dan Dan personally supports a deliberately limited number of students, allowing her to provide the individual attention and continuity that are central to her approach. For many families, this relationship begins before choosing a school and continues throughout their school years and through to university admission.
Our Approach
No two students follow the same path.
Our approach is highly personal and deliberately long term. We take the time to understand each student's individual strengths, interests, personality and ambitions before developing an academic pathway around them.
For some students, that may mean providing the strategy and enrichment needed to pursue a highly competitive university. For others, the priority may initially be rebuilding confidence, improving academic performance or helping them discover where their strengths truly lie.
Academic achievement is important, but it is only part of the picture. We place equal value on confidence, motivation and wellbeing, ensuring that students feel supported and encouraged rather than simply directed.
We work closely with parents, schools and teachers, providing continuity between home and school and helping to identify areas where additional support may be beneficial.
Our relationships with students are designed to develop over time, often beginning in Year 7 or Year 9 and continuing through GCSEs, A Levels and university applications.
The result is not a prescribed route or a one size fits all programme, but a considered, individual journey shaped around the young person and what they are capable of achieving.
A Long-Term Academic Strategy
For younger students, Dan Dan's work may begin with GCSE subject choices, academic goals and identifying areas of particular strength or interest. As students progress, she advises on A Level selection, academic enrichment and supercurricular opportunities, helping them develop an academic profile that reflects both their abilities and their longer-term aspirations.
University planning begins well before an application is submitted. Where a student has ambitions for a highly competitive university or course, Dan Dan works backwards from that goal, considering the academic choices, experiences and wider intellectual development that will strengthen their pathway.
During the application years, support becomes more focused and can include university and course selection, application strategy, admissions preparation and interview guidance.
Experience & Outcomes
Dan Dan has extensive experience supporting ambitious students applying to leading UK and international universities. Recent students she has advised have received offers from Oxford and Cambridge, as well as Imperial College London, UCL and LSE, alongside an offer for the Harvard Summer School.
Her work has included successful pathways in subjects ranging from Chemistry and Mathematics to Engineering and Medicine.
These outcomes are important, but Dan Dan's role is not simply to secure an offer. Her aim is to help each student understand where their strengths lie, make thoughtful academic choices and become a confident, independent young person who is well prepared for the next stage of their education.

Having spent more than 15 years supporting students within British independent education, Dan Dan brings an in-depth understanding of the UK school and university system together with extensive experience working with international families.

Begin the Conversation
Choosing the right academic path can feel daunting, particularly when decisions made during the school years can influence the opportunities available later.
An initial conversation with Dan Dan is an opportunity to talk about your child as an individual: where they are now, what they enjoy, where they may need support and what they might hope to achieve.
There is no expectation that every student should follow the same route or aspire to the same destination. The starting point is simply understanding the young person and considering how thoughtful, consistent guidance could help them make the most of their potential.
