Chengdu Conservation & Endangered Species Itinerary

The itinerary shown is an example and can be adapted to suit each school’s curriculum, interests and travel preferences.

 
 

Day 1 – Arrival & Welcome to Sichuan

  • Arrival in Chengdu and airport transfer to Hotel

  • Welcome briefing: Chengdu as a centre for wildlife conservation and sustainability

  • Introduction to student journals / field notebooks

  • Evening meal and rest

Day 2 – Host School Exchange: Young Environmentalists

  • Full day at partner school

  • Joint activities with Chinese students:

    School life and daily routines

    How young people in China learn about nature and the environment

  • Fun group activities and informal discussion

  • Evening in the Hotel and walk around the local area.

Day 3 – Giant Pandas & Conservation in Action

  • Visit to the Giant Panda Research & Conservation Centre

  • Focus on:

    Endangered species

    Habitat protection

    Breeding and conservation science

  • Observation tasks and wildlife sketching / photography

  • Evening meal with board games and fun in the hotel

Day 4 – Forests, Food Chains & Ecosystems

  • Visit to nearby forest or nature reserve area

  • Study of:

    Habitats and biodiversity

    Food chains and adaptation

    Human impact on ecosystems

  • Simple field-study style activities

  • Evening visit to Jinli Ancient Street

    Street food, lanterns, local crafts

 

Day 5 – Host School Project Day: Protecting Nature

  • Second day at partner school

  • Joint project:

    “How can we protect biodiversity locally and globally?”

    Comparing UK and Chinese approaches

  • Short student presentations

  • Evening in Hotel

Day 6 – Sustainability, Cities & Everyday Life

  • Workshop or visit focusing on:

    Urban green spaces

    Sustainable living

    How cities protect nature

  • Visit to local park or river area

  • Evening Sichuan food experience

    Dumplings or hot-pot style meal

    Discussion on food, farming and sustainability

Day 7 – Culture, Reflection & Celebration

  • Visit to cultural site or nature-focused museum

  • Reflection session:

    What students learned about conservation

    Biggest surprises about China and wildlife

  • Sichuan Opera & face-changing performance

  • Farewell group dinner

Day 8 – Departure

  • Final journal review and certificates

  • Programme close

  • Transfer to airport
